APRIL IS SEXUAL ASSAULT AND PREVENTION MONTH (SAAPM 2021)
Sexual Assault Awareness And Prevention
April is ‘Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month’ (SAAPM 2021), and a perfect opportunity to empower women through action. Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month is an annual campaign to raise public awareness about sexual assault and educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence. Although the ‘Sexual Assault Survivors Bill of Rights was signed into law on October 7, 2016, and most recently, the Sexual Assault Victims Protection Act of 2019, to “identify barriers to improving access to sexual assault forensic examiners, sexual assault nurse examiners, and other forensic medical examiners”, we still have a long way to go in providing resources that protect and empower women.
