International Women’s Day

This International Women’s Day, March 8, 2021, Sisterhood Sharing Sessions honors women outside of the United States who are known internationally as having made an impact in the advancement of women’s rights. This year we honor trailblazer, Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi.

Indira Gandhi

Indira Gandhi was the first female Prime Minister of India. She was an Indian Politician and a central figure of the Indian National Congress. Gandhi was the first and, to date, only female Prime Minister of India. She served as Prime Minister from January 1966 to March 1977, and again from January 1980 until her assassination in October 1984.

She was the second longest-serving Indian Prime Minister after her father.
