You Are The Security

As simple as it may seem, the fact is security only works if you use it. So in essence, you are the security.  If you have a ‘Home Security System’, turn it on. One of my best girlfriends’ husband worked for a security company for years. He was a top Sales Representative, and knew the ins and outs of the systems, and was very convincing in explaining the importance of having a ‘Home Security System’. He sold me my first security system for my first home. I was very excited.

Fast forward, my girlfriend, his wife, explained with much agitation that their home was robbed while on vacation. The intruder(s) took their time and ransacked their home. She stated, as a habit, their ‘Home Security System’ was not activated. So, if this guy isn’t activating his security system routinely, and per news reports it would seem many Celebs waive the option, it makes you wonder if the average Joe or Jane, has the same neglects.

Turn It On

If you made the decision to invest in extra protections for your home, consider why you made the decision. Consider the cost. Ask yourself, are you taking advantage of the investment.

Using a lesson from another girlfriend, I make it a habit to ensure our ‘Home Security System’ is on at all critical times. If we are leaving the house, of course the system is always activated. If we are at home but indisposed, the system is activated. This could mean any number of things, in the shower, in an area of the home where you don’t have clear visibility to the outside surroundings, or simply relaxing on the sofa in a comfortable manner that may result in an unexpected nap, etc. You decide.

In short, ‘Security Systems’ aren’t everyone’s choice. Nothing is full-proof. What I’ve learned, if you have a ‘Home Security System’, turn it on. That is the only way it works for you. Only you can activate your safety.
