Sisterhood Shares Life Lessons Learned | A Walk Along The Way-Notice Nature Series: A Gander Guards Mother Goose And Baby Goslings
What I’ve Learned
I’ve learned that Mothers and Fathers are the same no matter the species. Mother’s will fiercely protect their offspring, and Fathers will proudly protect their family.
Gander Guards Mother Goose And Goslings
Nap Time
During a walk along the way, I encounter a family of Geese enjoying nap time. The Gander guards Mother Goose and baby Goslings from a would-be intruder attempting to disrupt their nap along the water’s edge. I was lucky enough to capture this exchange on camera.
The baby Goslings and Mother Goose were just settling in for a nice nap on a beautiful Spring day. The baby Goslings can be seen snuggling in close under the Mother Goose’s wings for a quiet comfortable sleep. Mother Goose slept lightly keeping an eye out, literally. She kept one eye open while napping to ensure all was well with her little ones. The Gander or Father Goose guards the family by keeping a close watch for anything or anyone coming to close for comfort.
The Intruder
Suddenly, the Gander lifts its head and bellows a warning call. Just to the right of his sleeping family, another Gander is flying in close with force and speed. Father Goose is having none of that and swiftly charges towards the Intruder chasing him across the Lake far away from his family. Once the threat is at a safe distance, the Gander returns to sleep alongside Mother Goose and baby Goslings. An onlooker praises Father Goose, “You did a good job Dad”. Mother Goose sees all is well again, and she and her baby Goslings resume their nap along the water’s edge.
