Change The Perception
Taraji P. Henson says, “It’s time to talk about Mental Health”. She states her goal is to “Change the perception of mental health in the Black community.” Henson will be embarking on this journey with her co-host, and who she describes as a “Long-time friend” Tracie Jade.
The program invites guests to share their experiences regarding mental illness challenges, including PTSD. The hope is to bring awareness and light to mental illnesses suffered by Black people in silence and to help them understand they are not alone. By offering a forum so that People of Color can begin to speak openly about mental health issues without shame, dispels the stigma, and a community can begin to heal one person, and one family at a time. Taraji’s message that she hopes will begin this healing, “Strength is recognizing and admitting, I need help”.
Remove The Stigma
Henson recently appeared on The View, promoting her new Talk Show ‘Peace Of Mind’. She shared with Joy Behar, as it relates to offering regular and continual access with an entire show focused on mental health, her hope is to “Normalize the discussion”.
