Shalita McFarland (Video Commentary | Women Unmasked) is an African-American actor, model, writer and business woman who has been working in the entertainment industry for over 20 years. Her recent credits include WGN’s “Underground”; 20TH Century Fox’s “Shots Fired”; TNT’s “Good Behavior”; CBS’s “The Inspectors”; and History Channel’s “Six”. In Women Unmasked, Shalita talks about how social media puts a lot of pressure on women to be built like vixens and celebrities. She unfolds how we constantly see these unattainable standards of beauty in the media and how it causes harm on young girls and women. From her personal experience of social acceptance, Shalita shares why she cut her hair and how she broke free from societal pressures of being beautiful.
